Why was my item rejected?
Every item is reviewed by a person before it goes live. A rejection always comes with the reason, and most are fixable in an afternoon.
What review looks at
- Did you have the right to sell it. Your own work, or licensed in a way that permits resale. This one is not fixable by editing, and it is the reason we take most seriously.
- Security. Injection holes, unvalidated uploads, secrets committed into the files, obviously unsafe defaults.
- Does it do what the page says. The description, screenshots and demo have to match what is in the zip.
- Code quality. It does not have to be beautiful. It has to be something another developer can install, read and maintain.
- Completeness. Installation instructions, and no missing pieces or dead placeholders.
- The listing itself. Accurate title, honest screenshots, a working preview, the right category.
Resubmitting
Fix what the reason named and submit again. There is no penalty for resubmitting and no limit on attempts. Most published items on the marketplace were rejected at least once.
If you disagree
Reply to the review with your reasoning. If a reviewer flagged something as a bug that is deliberate, say so and explain why, and be specific. Reviewers do change their minds.
How to be rejected less
Install your own zip on a clean environment, following your own instructions, before you submit. That single step catches most rejections, because it catches the missing file and the instruction that assumes something already on your machine.
